Biological functions of Chinese herbal additives and their application in ruminant production and disease prevention
Chinese herbal medicine is a kind of green feed additive which can replace antibiotics because of its wide source,convenient sampling,low residue,and no drug resistance.Chinese herbal medicine contains organic acids,alkaloids,flavonoids,volatile oils,and other active ingredients,which have good physiological effects in antioxidant,antibacterial,anti-inflammatory,immune enhancement,anti-tumor and so on.Chinese herbal additives can promote the growth and development of animal body,promote the digestion and absorption of animal body,improve intestinal health,enhance immune and antioxidant properties,prevent and treat diseases,and have a good application prospect in animal production.The article reviews the biological functions of Chinese herbal medicine additives,discusses their application in ruminant production and disease prevention,and provides a reference for the efficient utilization of Chinese herbal medicine additives in healthy ruminant farming without resistance.
