Effects of microbial fermented feed on growth performance, rumen fermentation function, and microflora of lambs
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of microbial fermented feed on the growth performance, rumen fermentation parameters, and microflora of lambs.Forty-four healthy Hu sheep lambs with similar weight were randomly divided into four groups with 11 replicates in each group and one lamb in each replicate. The control group was fed with basal diet, the experimental groups was fed with 2.5%,5.0%,and 10.0%microbial fermented feed, respectively. The pre-test period was one week, and the formal test period was six weeks. The results showed that compared with the control group, feeding 5.0%and 10.0%microbial fermented feed could significantly increase the final weight and average daily gain of lambs(P<0.05),and feeding 2.5%,5.0%,and 10.0%microbial fermented feed could significantly reduce the diarrhea rate of lambs(P<0.05).Feeding 5.0%and 10.0%microbial fermented feed could significantly increase the levels of acetic acid and ammonia nitrogen in rumen of lambs(P<0.05),and significantly reduce the pH value of rumen(P<0.05).Feeding 2.5%,5.0%,and 10.0%microbial fermented feed significantly increased propionic acid, total volatile fatty acids, and bacterial protein levels in rumen of lambs(P<0.05),and significantly decreased valeric acid levels(P<0.05).The coverage rate of rumen microorganism in each group was higher than 99%.With the increase of microbial fermented feed, the rumen Chao1 index and Ace index of lamb decreased at first and then increased, and the rumen Chao1 index and Ace index of 2.5%fermented feed group were significantly lower than those of control group(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, feeding 2.5%,5.0%,and 10.0%microbial fermented feed could significantly increase the relative abundance of Ruminococcus 2,Succinomyces and Prevostella 1 in rumen of lambs(P<0.05),feeding 5.0%and 10.0%microbial fermented feed significantly increased the relative abundance of Ruminococcus UCG-014(P<0.05).Feeding 2.5%,5.0%,and 10.0%microbial fermented feed can significantly increase the relative abundance of Actinomycetes,Firmicutes, and Bacteroides in rumen of lambs(P<0.05).The results show that feeding 5.0%microbial fermented feed has a better effect on improving growth performance, rumen fermentation function and microflora composition of lambs.
