Effects of small peptide iron and porphyrin iron on growth performance, blood indexes, and fecal flora of weaned piglets
The purpose of the experiment was to investigate the effects of two kinds of organic iron(small peptide iron and porphyrin iron)on growth performance, blood indexes, and fecal flora of weaned piglets.Ninety weaned piglets with an average weight of(9.34±0.06)kg were randomly divided into three groups with three replicates in each group and 10 piglets in each replicate. The control group was fed with basal diet, while the experimental group was fed with 400 g/t small peptide iron and 500 g/t porphyrin iron, respectively. The pre-test period was five days, and the formal test period was 45 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the average daily gain of the small peptide iron group increased by 12.53%(P<0.05).The hemoglobin content of piglets in the small peptide iron group and porphyrin iron group increased significantly(P<0.05).The average erythrocyte volume of the small peptide iron group was significantly higher than that of the control group and porphyrin iron group(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the content of serum urea nitrogen in the small peptide iron group and porphyrin iron group decreased significantly(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the two kinds of organic iron increased the proportion of Lactobacillus in feces, decreased the relative abundance of Clostridium, and increased the content of propionic acid and butyric acid in feces of weaned piglets. The study indicates that adding small peptide iron and porphyrin iron in diet can improve blood indexes, fecal flora, and short chain fatty acid content of weaned piglets in different degrees.Combined with production performance analysis, adding 400 g/t small peptide iron in diet has a better effect.
