Effects of Se-enriched Cardamine violifolia on growth performance,antioxidant capacity,and lipid metabolism of goats
The experiment aimed to explore the effects of Se-enriched Cardamine violifolia on the growth performance,antioxidant capacity,and lipid metabolism of goats.A total of 72 healthy weaning male goats with the same genetic background and similar body weight were randomly divided into six groups with three replicates per group and four goats per replicate.Group Ⅰ served as the control group,fed with a basal diet.Groups Ⅱ~Ⅵ were the experimental groups,fed with experimental diets containing 0.25%(selenium concentration of 600 mg/kg),0.50%(selenium concentration of 300 mg/kg),1.00%(selenium concentration of 150 mg/kg),0.50%(selenium concentration of 150 mg/kg),and 0.50%(selenium concentration of 600 mg/kg)of Cardamine violifolia,respectively.The pre-test lasted for 15 days,the formal experimental period was 45 days.The results showed that compared with the control group,the addition of Se-enriched Cardamine violifolia in the diet significantly increased the average daily weight gain of goats(P<0.05),and significantly reduced the feed to gain ratio(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the addition of Se-enriched Cardamine violifolia in the diet significantly enhanced total antioxidant capacity(P<0.05),significantly increased antioxidant enzyme activity(P<0.05),and significantly reduced the content of MDA(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the addition of Se-enriched Cardamine violifolia in the diet significantly reduced the content of serum TC(P<0.05),and the content of TG in Groups Ⅲ~Ⅵ was significantly reduced(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the addition of Se-enriched Cardamine violifolia in the diet significantly increased the content of serum IgA(P<0.05),and increased the content of IgG and IL-2.The study indicates that the addition of 1.00%Se-enriched Cardamine violifolia(selenium concentration of 150.0 mg/kg)in feed can improve the growth performance,antioxidant capacity,and immune performance of goats,reduce the content of cholesterol and triglycerides in goats,and is a high-quality feed additive.
