Research progress on livestock and poultry transport stress and its mitigation measures
Transport stress is a non-specific physiological response caused by the long or long-distance transportation of animals, which can severely disrupt their physiological state, hormone secretion, and immune antioxidant functions, threaten their lives. Therefore, mitigating the adverse effects of transport stress on the body is of great significance for promoting the development of translocation breeding and slaughtering in the livestock industry. The article reviews the adverse effects of transport stress on physiological indicators, endocrine hormones, heat shock proteins, immune, antioxidant functions, and organs of livestock, and introduces mitigation measures such as nutritional metabolic regulation, improvement of intestinal flora, and feeding of anti-stress additives,to provide a reference for improving the health status and welfare level of livestock during transportation.
