Effects of bio-fermented feed on growth performance, nutrient apparent digestibility, and fecal flora of beef cattle
The experiment was designed to study the effects of bio-fermented feed on the growth performance, nutrient apparent digestibility, fecal flora, and serum antioxidant indexes of beef cattle.Thirty-two head of'Simmental×Local'cattle cattle weighing about 550 kg were selected as test animals and randomly divided into two groups with four replicates each and four cows in each replicate. The control group was fed with basal ration, and the experimental group was fed with 5%bio-fermented feed instead of basal ration. The pre-test period was 15 days, and the formal test period was 90 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the final weight and average daily gain of beef cattle were significantly increased by 2.45%and 23.29%(P<0.05),respectively,while the feed to gain ratio was significantly decreased by 18.34%(P<0.05).The apparent digestibility of DM,CP,EE,NDF,and ADF in feed increased by 5.75%,6.01%,2.97%,14.87%,and 11.6%,respectively(P<0.05).The number of lactic acid bacteria increased by 6.49%(P<0.05).In the experimental group,TP,ALB,and GLU concentrations were significantly increased by 14.27%,28.61%,and 12.85%(P<0.05),while TG and CHO concentrations were significantly decreased by 28.00%and 21.49%,respectively(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the T-AOC and the activity of GSH-Px,and SOD in the experimental group increased significantly by 18.05%,26.20%,and 20.33%,respectively(P<0.05),and the activity of CAT increased. The study indicates that adding bio-fermented feed to beef cattle diets can improve the growth performance, enhance the ability of animals to digest and utilize nutrients, improve the structure of flora, and enhance the antioxidant capacity of beef cattle.
