The study aimed to select sweet sorghum varieties suitable for planting in Guangdong with high forage value,and compared the agronomic traits and nutritional values of Hercules,Lüjuren,Desheng,B6,and Sorghum bicolor×S.sudanense.The results showed that the dry matter yield of the five varieties tested ranged from 4.28 t/hm2 to 20.35 t/hm2,with B6 being the highest.The crude protein yield of B6 was 1.14 t/hm2,which was significantly higher than that of other varieties(P＜0.05).The relative forage value of Sorghum bicolor × S.sudanense was 90.64,which was significantly higher than the rest of the varieties(P＜0.05).B6 had a higher content of water-soluble carbohydrates(16.17％DM),and the highest content of nitrogen-free extractives.The study indicates that taking into account agronomic traits,nutritional components,and sugar composition,B6 is more suitable for cultivation in Guangdong.
