Promoting effect of four single Chinese herbs and their compatibility on Lactobacillus in animal intestinal probiotics
To investigate the activating and proliferating effects of four single Chinese medicinal herbs,Schisandra,Hawthorn,Aucklandia, and Atractylodes,as well as their combined use on probiotic Lactobacillus, the experiment determined the changes in the OD value and colony count of Lactobacillus culture fluid before and after the addition of different single and combined Chinese herbal medicines to explore the optimal dosage concentration for activating the proliferation of probiotic Lactobacillus. An amoxicillin-induced intestinal dysbiosis model was established to investigate the impact of single and combined Chinese herbal medicines on Lactobacillus in the intestines of mice. The results showed that the optimal activation and proliferation concentrations for Lactobacillus were 0.250 g/mL for Schisandra,Hawthorn, and Atractylodes, and 0.500 g/mL for Aucklandia, the optimal concentrations for the combinations of Schisandra+Hawthorn,Schisandra+Atractylodes, and Schisandra+Aucklandia were all 0.125 g/mL.And the optimal concentrations for Atractylodes+Hawthorn and Aucklandia+Hawthorn were both 0.250 g/mL,and 0.450 g/mL for Atractylodes+Aucklandia. The study suggests that in animal husbandry, the best concentrations to add is 0.250 g/mL for the aqueous extracts of Schisandra and Hawthorn, and 0.125 g/mL for the combinations of Schisandra+Hawthorn,Schisandra+Atractylodes, and Schisandra+Aucklandia, which can maximize the promotional effect of Chinese medicinal herbs on Lactobacillus in animal intestines.
