The Scutellaria baicalensis stems and leaves contain flavonoids,terpenoids,glycosides,volatile oils,and polysaccharides,which have the biological functions of anti-inflammation,antibacterial,anti-oxidative stress,and adjusting immunity.The total flavonoids of Scutellaria baicalensis stems and leaves can enhance the immunity of the body,change the permeability of the intestinal wall,increase the absorption of nutrients in the intestinal tract and the number of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract,and improve the growth performance of animals.The Scutellaria baicalensis stems and leaves have little toxic side effects and do not produce drug resistance.It can be widely used in animal production as an additive or as roughage directly.In this paper,the pharmacological effects of Scutellaria baicalensis stems and leaves and its application in animal production were reviewed,which provided reference for the development of Scutellaria baicalensis stems and leaves in animal production.
