Effect of compound probiotics on laying performance of aged laying hens
The study aimed to investigate the impact of adding Bacillus,Lactobacillus, and compound probiotics preparation to the diet on the laying performance, egg quality, intestinal morphology, and digestive enzyme activity of aged Roman Brown laying hens.A total of 700 Roman Brown laying hens at 570 days of age were randomly divided into five groups, with 20 replicates per group and seven hens per replicate. The control group was fed a basic diet, while the Bacillus group,Lactobacillus group, and compound probiotics group were fed the basic diet supplemented with 500 g/t of Bacillus,500 g/t of Lactobacillus, and 250 g/t of Bacillus+250 g/t of Lactobacillus, respectively. The aureomycin group was fed the basic diet with an addition of 5 mg/kg aureomycin. The pre-test lasted for seven days and the formal test lasted for 30 days. The results showed that compared to the control group, the laying rate and average daily feed intake of all probiotic treatment groups were extremely increased(P<0.01),while the average egg weight was extremely decreased in the Lactobacillus group, compound probiotics group, and aureomycin group(P<0.01),and the feed-to-egg ratio was extremely decreased in the compound probiotics group(P<0.01).Compared to the control group, the yolk color was significantly increased in the compound probiotics group(P<0.05),the albumen height was extremely increased in the Lactobacillus group and compound probiotics group(P<0.01),and the Haugh unit was significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared to the control group, the villus height to crypt depth ratio(VH/CD)in the duodenum and jejunum was extremely increased in all three probiotic treatment groups(P<0.01),and the activities of α-amylase,β-amylase,and trypsin in the duodenum and jejunum were extremely increased(P<0.01).The study indicates that the addition of probiotics to the feed of aged Roman Brown laying hens can improve the laying performance, enhance intestinal morphology, and increase the activity of digestive enzymes in the gut,the comprehensive effect of compound probiotics is better than that of single probiotics.
