Effects of tea polyphenols on lipid metabolism and antioxidant capacity in the liver of Magang geese
The study aimed to investigate the effects of different doses of tea polyphenols on the lipid metabolism and antioxidant capacity in the liver of Magang geese.A total of 240 male Magang geese(28 days old)were selected and randomly divided into four groups, with six replicates per group and ten geese per replicate. The control group was fed with basic feed, while the experimental groups were added with 100(group L),500(group M)and 1 000 mg/kg(group H)tea polyphenols, respectively for six weeks. The results showed that compared with the control group, the activities of serum alkaline phosphatase(ALP)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST)in each experimental group were significantly reduced(P<0.05),the activity of alanine aminotransferase(ALT)in the serum of groups M and H was significantly reduced(P<0.05),while the activity of serum lipoprotein lipase(LPL)was significantly increased(P<0.05).The serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)content was significantly increased in each experimental group(P<0.05),while the serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)content was significantly decreased in the groups M and H(P<0.05).The mRNA expression levels of liver lipid metabolism related genes carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1(CPT1A),long-chain acyl-coa Synthetase 4(ACSL4),cytochrome p450 2K1(CYP4502K1),cytochrome P4502C19(CYP450 2C19),and elongation of very-long-chain fatty acid 1(ELOVL1)were significantly increased(P<0.05),the expression of long chain fatty acid coenzyme A ligase(ACSBG2)mRNA in group H was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The activity of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)in the liver of group M was significantly reduced(P<0.05),while the activity of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)in the liver of group H was significantly increased(P<0.05).The glutathione peroxidase 1(GPX-1),superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1),and heme oxygenase-1(HO-1)mRNA were significantly increased in each experimental group(P<0.05).The study indicates that adding an appropriate dose of tea polyphenols to the diet can improve the liver lipid metabolism and antioxidant function of Magang geese, with the addition of 1 000 mg/kg tea polyphenols having the best effect.
