In this paper,a novel flame retardant PEPAP was synthesized from pentaerythritol phosphate(PEPA)and hexachlorocylic triphosphonitrile(HCCP).The synthesis process was explored, and the structure and stability were characterized by infrared spectroscopy(FIR)and thermal gravimetric analysis(TG).Furthermore, the flame retardant effect of PEPAP as SEBS/PP/PP-g-MMA flame retardant was explored. The results showed that the optimum conditions for the synthesis of PEPAP were as follows:the solvent was non-hydrous acetonitrile, the reaction temperature is 74 ℃,and the reaction time is 12 hrs.;its thermal stability and carbon formation ability were relatively high;when the content of PEPAP flame retardant was 25 wt%,the oxygen index of SEBS/PP/PP-g-MMA flame retardant system reached 29.6%,and the vertical combustion reached V-2 level of UL-94,forming a dense carbon layer. The synthesis of new flame retardants lays a solid foundation for the preparation of high performance polyolefin flame retardant materials.
