Effect of Nucleating Agents on the Properties of Thin Walled Injection Molded Polypropylene K1870
This paper aims to discuss the effects of four nucleating agents(TD-531,NA-21,HPN-900ei and HPN-20E)on the mechanical and optical properties of thin walled injection molded polypropylene K1870.After the above mentioned four different nucleating agents were added respectively, the bending modulus and tensile strength of K1870 were improved at different degrees. When 1500 mg/kg four nucleating agents were added respectively, the bending modulus of K1870 increased from 1410 MPa to 1790 MPa,1770 MPa,1720 MPa and 1620 MPa respectively, while the tensile strength of which increased from 34.2 MPa to 37.4 MPa,37.1 MPa,36.8 MPa and 36.7 MPa respectively.Among them,TD-531 helps achieve the most obviously increase in bending modulus and tensile strength by 27%and 9.4%respectively.With the increase of nucleating agent concentration, the fog degree of K1870 decreased from 46.3%to 38.2%,39.2%,41.2%and 41.8%respectively,while the transmittance of K1870 increased from 80%to 85.6%,85.3%,84.3%and 84.2%respectively.The addition of nucleating agents has little effect on the MFR of polypropylene,so it is not necessary to adjust the processing technology of polypropylene from this aspect.
