A novel eco-friendly thermal stabilizer for PVC:Organically modified cinnamate-intercalated calcium aluminum hydrotalcite
The surface modifier sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)was used to modify cinnamate-intercalated calcium aluminum hydrotalcite. The product was characterized by infrared analysis and XRD analysis, confirming the successful synthesis of the product. The modified hydrotalcite was applied to PVC for thermal stability tests such as thermal aging oven test, thermogravimetric test, conductivity test, etc. The results showed that PVC sample did not completely turn black until 120 min,and the thermogravimetric rate was low, which could effectively absorb the HCL produced by PVC thermal degradation.Compared with the commercial thermal stabilizer calcium stearate/zinc,the modified cinnamate-intercalated calcium aluminum hydrotalcite thermal stabilizer was non-toxic and environmentally friendly, and had excellent performance and development potential.
