Evaluation of the Application Performance of a New Cold-Resistant Plasticizer Di(2-propylheptyl)Adipate
A plasticizer of di(2-propylheptanyl)adipate was synthesized using 2-propylheptanol and adipic acid as raw materials. The thermal weight loss performance and PVC absorption rate of three plasticizers, dioctyl adipate(DOA),dioctyl sebacate(DOS),and di(2-propylheptyl)adipate(LH-80),were compared. The main performance indicators of three plasticizers applied to PVC 70℃ cable sheath material and cling film were determined. The results showed that when applied to cable materials, the volume resistivity of DOA,DOS,and LH-80 plasticized PVC materials were 1.73 × 109 Ω·m,2.01 × 109 Ω·m,and 2.10 × 109 Ω·m,respectively. The mechanical property change rate and thermal weight loss index of the three plasticized PVC materials after aging meet the requirements of GB/T 8815-2008 70 ℃ cable sheath materials. When applied to PVC cling film, the tensile strengths of DOA,DOS,and LH-80 plasticized PVC materials were 19.3 MPa,19.9 MPa,and 21.4 MPa,with LH-80 having the best tensile strength. The low-temperature embrittlement temperatures were-53 ℃,-55 ℃,and-58 ℃,respectively, and the low-temperature resistance of LH-80 was between the other two.In terms of optical performance, the transmittance and haze of LH-80 are between DOS and DOA,and the yellow index is comparable to DOS and DO A.
