Toughening Modification of Polyolefin Elastomers TPO and POE
Using impact copolymer polypropylene and homopolymer polypropylene as matrix resins,we added a certain proportion of talc powder, antioxidant, and toughening agent, and utilized twin-screw extrusion granulation mechanism to prepare modified materials. On this basis,we studied the toughening effect of polyolefin elastomers TPO and POE by comparing the melt flow rate, density, molding shrinkage, tensile properties, bending properties, and thermal properties of the samples. The experimental results indicate that the density changes irregularly and the magnitude of the change is not significant. The decrease in melt flow rate leads to a greater downward trend in TPO.The molding shrinkage rate significantly decreases, and there is some rebound after adding a larger amount of TPO.The tensile strength, bending strength, and temperature of thermal deformation under load all decrease, and POE becomes more pronounced. The impact strength of room temperature cantilever beams is greatly affected by the notch, and the impact performance of POE is more than twice that of TPO.The impact strength of the low-temperature cantilever beam gap slowly increases.Ultimately,TPO can be applied for toughening modification of polypropylene, but only for composite materials with relatively low toughness requirements.
