Research progress of natural products ameliorate liver fibrosis by inducing ferroptosis
Liver fibrosis(LF)is a common pathologic process that many chronic liver diseases develop into cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.Hepatic fibrosis is regulated by a variety of cytokines and signaling pathways during its occurrence and development.Ferroptosis is a new regulation mode of cell death caused by iron overload,REDOX homeostasis disorder and increased lipid peroxidation.A large number of studies have shown that ferroptosis is closely related to liver fibrosis and inducing ferroptosis in hepatic stellate cells may be a potential therapeutic target for liver fibrosis.Recent studies have shown that many natural products can induce ferroptosis in hepatic stellate cells and inhibit the progression of LF.The role of natural products is getting more and more attention.However,there are relatively few review articles on natural products regulating LF through the ferroptosis pathway.This paper briefly describes the intervention mechanism and application of natural products influencing LF through ferroptosis regulation.This paper focuses on the relationship between ferroptosis and LF,as well as the regulatory effect of natural products targeting ferroptosis on LF,hoping to provide a new theoretical basis for the development of natural products in the treatment of metabolic diseases and liver diseases,and also provide more alternative strategies for future drug production.
