Research progress of GDF15 in chronic airway inflammatory diseases
Chronic inflammatory diseases of the airways are chronic diseases in which inflammation affects the upper and/or lower airways. In recent years, due to environmental changes and socio-economic development, epidemiology has shown an increasing prevalence of chronic inflammatory diseases of the airways, which seriously affects the quality of life and life expectancy of patients.Growth differentiation factor 15(GDF15)is a stress-responsive cytokine belonging to the transforming growth factor-β superfamily.More and more studies have found that GDF15 levels are closely associated with the degree of airway inflammation and affect airway mucus hypersecretion, and are closely related to the onset, progression and prognosis of chronic inflammatory airway diseases, and are promising markers for serum detection. In this paper,we describe the activation mechanism of GDF15 and its relationship with inflammation, and taking chronic rhinosinusitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma and other common respiratory diseases as examples;summarize the expression level changes of GDF15 in the process of occurrence and development of chronic inflammatory diseases of the airway, and its influence on the pathological process of the disease and the prognosis of the disease,to provide a theoretical basis and reference for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic airway inflammatory diseases.
