New molecular methods and clinical application in the diagnosis of infectious diseases
Infectious diseases are the main cause of morbidity and death in patients around world, and may cause fulminant epidemic diseases, bringing a great burden to the global health system.A definite diagnosis of etiology is a prerequisite for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. With the variation of known pathogens, the continuous emergence of new pathogens and the increase of opportunistic pathogens, clinicians and scientists are facing growing diagnostic and therapuetic challenges in the field of infectious diseases now. However,as the traditional gold standard for pathogen diagnosis, the traditional isolation and culture methods are considered time-consuming,less sensitive and high risks of pollution contamination, necessitating the development of molecular diagnostic technology to be rapid, efficient, automated and digitalized, which is playing more and more important role. This work mainly focuses on the clinical application and challenges of new molecular diagnostic methods in infectious diseases in recent years.
