Progress on the molecular mechanism of genistein against colorectal cancer
Colorectal cancer is a worldwide malignant tumor with increasing incidence, poor prognosis and no effective therapeutic agents. There is an urgent need to explore the mechanisms underlying the development of colorectal cancer and to find new therapeutic agents.Genistein has been shown in numerous studies to be used in the treatment of colorectal cancer. It is a polyphenol isoflavone compound found in large quantities in soybeans or soy products and is widely consumed in Asian populations. It has a variety of biological activities, including diabetic,anti-inflammatory,anti-obesity and anti-angiogenesis,cardioprotective function and anticancer,of which the anticancer effect has been most widely studied. The molecular mechanism of genistein against colorectal cancer involves several aspects:inhibition of tumor cell proliferation, invasion and migration,anti-apoptosis,oxidative stress and inflammation. This review will focus on the above aspects. The research results of recent years will be summarized in order to develop novel therapeutic drugs with good anticancer potential and provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of colorectal cancer.
