The role of cytokines in psoriasis and Chinese medicine intervention
Psoriasis is an immune skin disease mediated by T lymphocytes,characterized by abnormal proliferation of keratinocytes and infiltration of inflammatory cells.The pathogenesis of psoriasis is very complex,and all types of cytokines are involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis,with interleukin and tumor necrosis factor being the main cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interferon-γ(IFN-γ).The role is relatively important,as various factors interact with each other to form a network like cytokine pathway.Among them,tumor necrosis factor and IFN-γ has the function of initiating inflammatory response,increasing the expression of interleukin-17(IL-17),a core factor in the occurrence and development of psoriasis,and upregulating tumor necrosis factor(TNF)through inflammatory response TNF-α,IFN-γ,IL-23,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)expression,causing abnormal cell proliferation and differentiation,elevated levels of inflammatory factors,and pathological changes,together constitute the inflammatory microenvironment in psoriasis patients.About 70%of patients experienced mutations in upstream and downstream genes in this pathway.At present,biological agents that block such pathways are the most effective drugs for treating psoriasis.Although this method is simple and feasible,its shortcomings of maintenance time and high price lead to a low audience area.Treatment drugs such as cyclosporine and glucocorticoids have serious toxic side effects.In recent years,traditional Chinese medicine has played a crucial role in the prevention and treatment of psoriasis as a multi target,multi pathway,and multi directions overall regulation.This review analyzes the current research status on the prevention and treatment of psoriasis by regulating upstream and downstream cytokines related to the signaling pathways of traditional Chinese medicine monomers and compounds,aiming to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of psoriasis by traditional Chinese medicine,and provide new ideas for the development of new drugs and the application of traditional Chinese medicine specific diagnosis and treatment methods.
