Research progress on succinylation modification in cancer
Succinylation,a new type of post translational modification(PTM),involves the transfer of a negatively charged tetracarbosuccinyl group to the primary amine of a lysine residue mediated by succinyl CoA.Succinylation is found involved in the occurrence and development of various diseases by enzymic or nonenzymic regulation, especially in cancer. Here we review the relevant regulatory mechanisms on metabolic pathways, histones, tumor microenvironment, redox homeostasis,DNA damage, and angiogenesis, hoping to provide references to investigate the occurrence and development of cancers from the perspective of PTM,and to promote cancer prevention and treatment.
