Research progress on the anti-pathogenic microorganism and anti-inflammatory effects of chloramine taurine
Chloramine taurine(TauCl)is a halogenated product of activated neutrophils in an inflammatory state, which is synthesized from intracellular taurine and hypochlorous acid generated by the myeloperoxidase pathway. In recent years,a large number of studies on TauCl have mainly focused on its microbicidal effects and its anti-inflammatory activities against acute and chronic inflammations. In this paper, the research progresses of TauCl on the synthesis, pathogenic microbial killing role, the effect against oxidant stress damage and anti-inflammatory properties are reviewed. It will provide a reference for further developing TauCl as a bioactive substance or drug with both anti-pathogenic microorganism and anti-inflammatory effects.
