The role of hydrogen sulfide in tumors and its targeted therapy
Hydrogen sulfide(H2S)is a gasotransmitter with a wide range of physiological functions. It plays key roles in the occurrence and development of tumors, and hence its metabolic enzymes have become drug treatment targets for a variety of tumors.Herein,we reviewed the synthetic and catabolic pathways of H2S and its dual roles in tumors. The exogenous addition of H2S donor compounds and the inhibition of endogenous H2S synthesis are effective strategies for anti-tumor therapy, which are further explored. These strategies provide a theoretical basis for H2S-targeted tumor prevention and treatment in clinical practice.
