Research progress on the role of branched-chain amino acids in the improvement of insulin resistance by exercise
Branched chain amino acids(BCAAs)as essential amino acids are popular sports nutrition supplements. However,an increasing amount of evidence suggests that BCAAs are strongly associated with insulin resistance(IR),and impaired BCAAs catabolism is an important contributor to high levels of BCAAs.Exercise is an effective non-pharmacological approach to the prevention and alleviation of metabolic diseases.Acute and long-term exercise participate in exercise-enhanced BCAAs catabolism to attenuate BCAAs accumulation and promote the recovery of BCAAs homeostasis through various regulatory factors, respectively. This review summarizes the current state of research on the effects and possible mechanisms of exercise-mediated BCAAs,as well as exercise amelioration of IR through BCAAs,with the aim of providing new ideas for the development of sports nutrition intervention strategies for the IR population.
