The role of neutrophil extracellular traps in inflammation related diseases and tumors
When there is an invasion of foreign pathogens or some kind of inflammation in the organism, neutrophils will release a substance similar to the fibrous network structure, named neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs).NETs play a physiological role in killing pathogens and participating in immune response in the body.At the same time,NETs also play a role in promoting the proliferation or distal diffusion of tumor cells at different stages of tumor development. This review summarizes the formation of NETs,the correlative mechanisms of NETs involved in the inflammation-related diseases and the progression of tumors, and discusses the therapeutic strategies of NETs as targets.
