Pathological significance of stannocalcins in malignant tumors of digestive system
Stanniocalcins(STCs)include stanniocalcin 1(STC1)and stanniocalcin 2(STC2).STCs play an important role in anti-inflammation,anti-oxidation,cytoprotection,angiogenesis,etc.In digestive system malignant tumors,STCs promote tumor cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis, immune escape and chemoradiotherapy resistance through a variety of ways, and are closely related to the poor prognosis of patients with tumors. In this review, the physiological functions of STCs and their expression, regulatory mechanisms and clinical importance in digestive system malignancies are summarized. The potential of STCs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets will be explored.
