Effect ofRight Contrast Echocardiography in Different Positions on the Diagnosis of Patent Foramen Ovale
Objective:To explore the value of right contrast echocardiography in the diagnosis of patent foramen ovale(PFO)in two different postures.Methods:Sixty-three suspected PFO patients hospitalized in Changde Sec-ond People's Hospital from January 2022 to March 2024 were examined by transthoracic echocardiography(TTE).At the time of examination, the same patient took two postures:right lateral position 45 and left lateral position 45 respectively.8 ml of normal saline,1 ml of autologous venous blood and 1 ml of air were activated as contrast a-gents for rapid intravenous injection. At rest and Valsalva foaming tests were carried out in both postures, and the number of left ventricular microbubbles developed in 3~6 cardiac cycles was observed, and the number of right-to-left shunt microbubbles in the left ventricular cavity of the two different postures was compared. Results:RLS classification of the number of microbubbles in the left heart showed that the resting development rate in the right lateral position was 73.6%,which was higher than that in the left lateral position(45.3%).The results of Valsalva test showed that the development rate of right lateral position was 88.6%,which was higher than that of left lateral position(75.5%),P<0.05.Conclusion:The right lateral decubitus position can improve the detection rate of PFO patients in transthoracic echocardiography.
