Spatial Spillover Effects of Digital Economy on the Embeddedness of Global Value Chains
The spatial spillover effects of the digital economy on the embeddedness of global value chains are empirically analyzed using data from 30 provinces in China over a seven-year period. The results show that the digital economy has a positive impact on regional GVC integration by promoting industrial upgrading and improving the innovation and entrepreneurship index. In addition, the higher the level of GVC integration, the greater the promotion of regional GVCs.The development of digital economy in neighboring provinces hinders the development of local GVC and shows the siphoning effect. The study also found that the economic level, support, openness, industrial structure and urbanization level have a positive impact on GVC.Therefore,China should increase investment, strengthen technological exchanges and cooperation, and promote technological innovation;promote the multilateral trading system and international cooperation;optimize the industrial layout through upstream and downstream collaboration in the industrial chain;emphasize environmental protection and sustainable development, and build a green value chain;improve industrial development, and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship;and enhance the economic level through urbanization, which will lead to the construction of GVCs,and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.
