Study on the design and performance of permeable concrete with sand using ball model wrapping method
In view of the design of pervious concrete using the ball model wrapping method, the design steps of sand containing pervi-ous concrete were clarified, and a method for measuring the thickness of aggregate slurry using the relationship between total surface ar-ea of aggregates, slurry density, and mass was proposed. The influence of net slurry flowability, mortar flowability and sand addition on the thickness of aggregate slurry, compressive strength of concrete and permeability coefficient was studied. The results show that the proposed method for testing the thickness of the slurry has high accuracy and can be used to guide the design of pervious concrete using the ball model wrapping method; The greater the fluidity of the slurry and mortar, the smaller the thickness of the aggregate wrapping. The compressive strength of concrete increases with the increase of aggregate slurry thickness, while the permeability coefficient de-creases with the increase of slurry thickness. The addition of single graded quartz sand has a strengthening effect on concrete but has an impact on its permeability. The amount of quartz sand used should be controlled within 6%.The research results have been applied in engineering with good results.
