Effect of fixed-time artificial insemination technology on the reproductive performance of reserve sow
To optimize the timing artificial insemination technology scheme and explore the impact of fixed time artificial insemination(FTAI)on the reproductive performance of reserve sows.1130 Landrace sows aged 200 to 230 days and weighing approximately 120 kg were selected for the experiment, and they were randomly divided into three groups. The control group consisted of 120 sows which were naturally estrous and underwent artificial insemination after estrus detection. The experimental group was divided into two timed inseminations and three timed inseminations, namely FTAI2 and FTAI3.512 sows in the FTAI2 group were continuously treated with altrenogest for 18 days,42 h intramuscular injection of Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin(PMSG)and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin(HCG),80 h intramuscular injection of chloroprostol sodium, and timed artificial insemination at 146 h and 162 h,respectively.498 sows in the FTAI3 group were continuously treated with altrenogest for 18 days,24 h intramuscular injection of chloroprostol sodium,42 h intramuscular injection of pregnant horse serum gonadotropin,122 h intramuscular injection of Gonadotropin releasing hormone(GnRH),and scheduled artificial insemination was performed at 146 h,170 h and 186 h,respectively. The results showed that the estrus rate and conception rate of sows in the experimental group FTAI3 were 94.5±5.3%and 87.1±3.5%respectively,significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),under the scheme of sodium chloroprostate+PMSG+GnRH.The total litter size per litter in the FTAI3 group was increased by 1.1 and 1.4,respectively,compared to the FTAI2 and control group. The live litter size per litter was increased by 1 and 1.2,respectively.There was no significant difference in the number of stillbirths per litter(P>0.05).In summary, under the treatment of three timed insemination technology schemes, the utilization rate and reproductive performance of reserve sows can be improved, achieving the goal of batch production.
