Allelopathic Effects of Aqueous Extracts from Alfalfa on Caragana intermedia Seed Germination
In order to investigate allelopathic effects of aqueous extracts from different organs of alfalfa on seed germination of Caragana intermedia, the allelopathic effects of aqueous extracts with a range of concentra tions of 0.5,1.0,10.0 and 25.0 mg/ml from root, stem and leaf of alfalfa on seed germination and seeding growth of Caragana intermedia were studied by method of bioassay. The results showed that aqueous extracts from different organs of alfalfa had inhibition effect on seed germination of Caragana intermedia, the inhibition effect increased with the concentration increase of aqueous extracts. The inhibitory potency of a queous extracts from root was stronger than those form stem and leaf at the same concentration level. When all aqueous extracts of alfalfa were the concentration of 1.0 mg/ml,the radicle length, hypocotyl length and height of Caragana intermedia seeding were stronger than those of control; while the aqueous extracts of alfalfa were the concentration of 25.0 mg/ml,aqueous extracts from different organs had obvious inhibition effect on the seeding (P<0.05).This study could offer theoretical basis for establishing artificial shrubgrass intercrop system through researching the allelopathic effects between alfalfa and Caragana intermedia.
