A Brief Review and Evaluation of Popular Literature Research in Taiwan,China During the Japanese Colonial Period
Taiwan's popular literature during the Japanese colonial period is a part of modern Chinese literature,and has critical significance that cannot be ignored.Stimulated by such factors as the springing up of journals and the selected publication of popular novels,the study of popular literature in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period has become a hot topic.In terms of naming,there is a dispute in the academic circles about whether to use"popular literature"or"mass literature".On the issue of circulation,academic circles mainly focus on the dissemination and rewriting of popular journal works of the mainland in Taiwan society.In terms of the classification and refinement of the research path,there began to be genre research on detective novels and martial arts novels.There are also case studies of representative writers'works and popular journals.Attaching importance to the popular literature of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period can not only fill the gap in the history of Taiwan literature,but also the key to stimulate the vitality of Taiwan literature research,which makes up for the Taiwan perspective for the"pluralistic symbiosis"of modern Chinese literature research.
