Shen Congwen's works has obvious local characteristics.Shen Congwen was thinking about"place"while writing about place,which is the sharpest point of Shen Congwen's thinking,but also the dilemma and confusion that made him fall into"internal Orientalism"and"self-orientalisation".At the same time,it is also the place that makes him fall into the dilemma and confusion of"internal orientalism"and"self-orientalisation".Shen Congwen's dilemma demonstrates the conscious cultural adherence of modern Chinese intellectuals and their ambivalence in the face of the more powerful Western discourse of modernity.
