文学典故往往言辞简练、含义深刻,能彰显一个民族历史和文化的独特魅力.因此,典故的翻译难度较高,很考验译者的功底.《威尼斯商人》是莎士比亚的讽刺性喜剧,剧中引经据典,巧妙运用大量与《圣经》和希腊、罗马神话形成互文关系的典故.朱生豪、梁实秋、方平、傅光明等不同代际的译者,分别使用各种翻译策略和技巧处理这些典故.文章将从互文性理论出发,研究朱生豪、梁实秋、方平、傅光明四译本对《威尼斯商人》中的典故的翻译.
A Research on the Translation of Allusions in the Chinese Version of The Merchant of Venice from the Perspective of Intertextuality:Taking the Translations by Zhu Shenghao,Liang Shiqiu,Fang Ping and Fu Guangming as Examples
Literary allusions are often brief in words but profound in meaning,highlighting the unique charm of a nation's history and culture.As a result,allusion translation is difficult and puts the translator's skills to the test.The Merchant of Venice is a satirical comedy written by Shakespeare,which quotes classics and skillfully employs a large number of allusions that form intertextual relationships with the Bible and Greek and Roman myths.To deal with these allusions,translators of different generations,such as Zhu Shenghao,Liang Shiqiu,Fang Ping,and Fu Guangming,employ various translation strategies and techniques.This paper will use French semiotician Julia Kristeva's intertextuality theory to analyze Zhu,Liang,Fang,and Fu's translation of allusions from The Merchant of Venice.
