A Brief Introduction to the Newly Discovered Song Collection of New China Vol.Ⅲ Compiled by Jin Tianyu
In order to meet need of music education in school,Jin Tianyu compiled and published Song Collection of New China Vol.Ⅰ,Song Collection of New China Vol.Ⅱ and Song Collection of New China Vol.Ⅲ in the late Qing Dynasty.However,Song Collection of New China Vol.Ⅲ long remained undiscovered until 2024 when the author found it on the"Anti-Japanese War and Modern Sino-Japanese Relations Literature Data Platform".Song Collection of New China Vol.Ⅲ is closely related to the subjects taught in schools,reflecting the educational philosophy of integrating education with"music".The paper explores the newly discovered Song Collection of New China Vol.Ⅲ from three perspectives:"history of music exchange between China and foreign countries","poetry revolution in the late Qing Dynasty",and"history of the birth of May Fourth new poetry".It summarizes Jin Tianyu's achievements in literature,music and education,and also evaluates his position,role,and contributions in the late Qing Dynasty's new-style education and literary reform.
