Effects of Xuantong Tang Combined with Hyperbaric Oxygen on Poststroke Depression and Its Influence on Neurological Function and Psychological State
Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of Xuantong Tang combined with hyperbaric oxygen on post stroke de-pression and its impact on patients'neurological function and psychological state.Methods:82 patients with post-stroke depression who were diagnosed and treated in our hospital between February 2021 to February 2023 were enrolled prospectively and divided into a con-trol group and an observation group, with 41 patients in each group. The control group received hyperbaric oxygen treatment, while the observation group received Xuantong Tang treatment in addition to the control group.Compare the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)scores,as well as transcranial Doppler ultrasound parameters, serum C-reaction protein(CRP),before and after treatment between two groups of patients homocysteine(Hcy)and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)levels.Results:After treatment, the NIHSS score,HAMD score, and serum CRP,Hcy,and LDL-C levels of the two groups of patients were lower than before treatment. The blood flow velocity at the lesion side of the vertebral artery(VA)and basilar artery(BA)was lower than before treatment(P<0.05).After treatment, the NIHSS score,HAMD score, and serum CRP,Hcy,and LDL-C levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the blood flow velocity at the VA and BA posi-tions on the lesion side of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Xuantong Tang com-bined with hyperbaric oxygen can significantly improve the neurological function damage and alleviate the degree of depression in patients with post-stroke depression, which may be related to the recovery of cerebral blood flow velocity and the decrease of vascular endothelial injury factor levels.
