Animal Cell Cultured Meat and Its Seed Cell Selection and Immortalization Strategies
In view of the increasing impact of traditional meat production methods through farming and slaughtering on environmental pollution,waste of resources and residues of various harmful ingredients,as well as the practical problems facing the future green and low-carbon development,with the rise of"cell farming"technology,Chinese and international researchers and entrepreneurs have turned their attention to the new production model of"artificial meat"with multiple advantages,and have achieved results.Unlike the plant-based"artificial meat",which is processed using various protein sources as raw materials,the"artificial meat"produced by cultivating animal cells,or"cell-cultured meat",is closer to"real meat"in terms of nutritional quality and taste.It is expected to become a new popular theme for the future development of alternative protein production based on cell-synthesis biotechnology,and is a new favorite of emerging food technology,industry,and investment circles.However,the key to cultivating meat with a certain scale and efficiency from the initial cells is the seed cells and their ability to be immortalized and expanded,which will play a fundamental role in growth efficiency and cycle,as well as cost control in large-scale production.This article mainly summarizes and analyzes the cultivation of meat from animal cells at home and abroad,the selection of seed cells and the implementation of their immortalization strategy,as well as the scientific and ethical aspects of animal cell-cultured meat,providing important references for relevant research and the artificial meat industry in China.
