Cysteine-rich61(CYR61)is a member of the connective tissue growth factor(CCN)family and a secreted heparin junction protein rich in cysteine.Initially believed to be an immediate early gene product induced by growth factors, its encoded protein has significant mitogenic and chemotactic properties, which can stimulate cell proliferation, chemotaxis, adhesion, and promote extracellular matrix formation. It plays a crucial role in proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and fibrosis. The expression change of CYR61 is related to human cancer. This review introduces the molecular structure and biological functions of CCN1/CYR61,with a focus on summarizing the expression and role of CYR61 structure in some cancers.By understanding the expression, function, mechanism of action, and treatment methods of CYR61 in cancer cells, one can become more familiar with the role of CYR61 in cancer cells, providing a direction for the treatment of various types of cancer.
