V(D)J rearrangement is a common event in the production of specific antibodies and receptors in vertebrates,it is an iconic characteristic of adaptive immunity.The origins of V(D)J rearrangement and its key recombinase recombination-activating gene(RAG)are fundamental issues in immunology.Multiple evidence has suggested that RAG and V(D)J rearrangements might originate from a transposition event.Here,we describe the functions of V(D)J recombinase RAG and discussed its relationship with the ancient RAG transposons,while also considering the connection between RAG transposons and transposon gene editing tools.Which may benefit to the research on the development and utilization of new gene editing tools.
