Objective:To observe the effect of rhubarb extract on acute radiation oral mucositis in rats.Methods:Sixty healthy adult male SD rats,are randomly divided into control group(no treatment),model group(injection of normal saline after modeling)and intervention group(injection of rhubarb extract after modeling).The clinical scores of oral mucositis and the contents of inflammatory factors in the three groups are compared before and after the experiment(intervention day 14).Results:The area of oral ulcer in intervention group is smaller,and the pain degree is less,the course of oral mucositis is significantly shortened and the symptoms are significantly improved;histopathological observation shows that the morphology of oral mucosal epithelial cells in intervention group is almost normal,and inflammatory cell infiltration is significantly reduced;after intervention,The contents of IL-6(12.15±1.74 ng/L),TNF-α(17.09±2.34 ng/L)and TGF-β(9.25±2.47 μg/L)in the intervention group are significantly lower than those in the model group.Conclusion:Rhubarb extract significantly improves the symptoms of oral mucositis in rats,and has anti-inflammatory and repairing effects of oral mucositis,which could provide a new idea for the treatment of radioactive oral mucositis.
