With the improvement of the performance requirements of biomedical materials,chitosan and its composites had been widely used and studied in bone tissue engineering.As a natural biopolymer-based material,chitosan has good biocompatibility,biodegradability,and biological activity and has became an essential component of bone repair materials.In order to improve the antibacterial properties and biological activity of chitosan bone repair materials,researchers have used various methods to composite chitosan with other materials.Among them,chitosan composite silver nanoparticles,bioactive glass,hydroxyapatite,and other materials can effectively improve chitosan materials'antibacterial properties and promote bone cell proliferation and regeneration.This article reviews the latest progress and application of chitosan composite antibacterial materials in bone tissue engineering(cartilage injury,fracture,and oral cavity)and analyzes the challenges and shortcomings in its development.
