Recent advances in microbial production of glycosaminoglycans
Glycosaminoglycans is a class of linear chain acidic polysaccharide with many physiological functions,and widely applied in the industries of cosmetics,health products and pharmaceuticals.Based on the demand of eco-friendly process,production safety and sustainable development,microbial production of glycosaminoglycans has been paid more and more attention.In this article,we reviewed the biosynthetic pathway of glycosaminoglycans. Then,we discussed the detailed strategies to improve the production of glycosaminoglycans through biochemical engineering and metabolic engineering. Finally, we predicted future directions for further improving glycosaminoglycans production.
