Recent progress in regulatory mechanism and pharmacological intervention of glucose and lipid metabolism on ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis,a kind of inflammatory bowel disease, has serious impacts on patients'life quality due to the long disease course and recurrence. The glucose and lipid metabolism plays a pivotal role in maintaining homeostasis, and the corresponding abnormalities often lead to the occurrence and development of diseases. In recent years,a growing number of studies in this field showed that the chemicals regulating glucose and lipid metabolism could alleviate colitis, and this discovery could offer a potential novel therapeutic strategy for treatment of ulcerative colitis.Herein,we reviewed the recent progress in regulatory mechanism and pharmacological intervention of glucose and lipid metabolism on ulcerative colitis, hoping to provide theoretical guidance in this aspect.
