Molecular Regulation of Sucrose Transport in Higher Plants
In higher plants, the regulation of sucrose synthesis, transport and distribution represents a complex process. The long distance transport, from source leaves to sink tissues is not only related with plant's normal growth and development, but also regulated by the changes in the levels of hormones as well as external environmental factors.Sucrose transporters (SUTs)are mediated in sucrose's phloem loading, and its unloading to diverse sinks, which then play an important physiological role in carbohydrate partitioning.A brief report of our recent progress was also made in the SUT genes from para rubber tree.
