The art general education course is an important carrier for the implementation of aesthetic education in universities,especially playing a special role in the cultivation of talents in science and engineering majors.This paper analyzes the special needs of students majoring in science and engineering for aesthetic education and combines with the teaching practice of art general education courses.It proposes a concept of art education in science and engineering universities that emphasizes both"basic aesthetic education"and"precision aesthetic education".Based on this concept,it explores the reform ideas of art general education courses in such universities.
