Characteristics of plantar pressure in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis with Lenke 1 and Lenke 5
Objective To analyze the characteristics of plantar pressure in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis(AIS)with Lenke 1 and Lenke 5.Methods A total of 20 AIS patients were enrolled as AIS group, which included 6 males and 14 females, aged 10-18 years old with mean age of 13.60 years old;body mass was 32.70-71.80 kg with mean body mass of 51.86 kg;height was 141.00-174.00 cm with mean height of 159.60 cm;body mass index(BMI)was 14.90-24.30 kg/m2 with mean BMI of 20.22 kg/m2;7 cases of Lenke 1 and 13 of Lenke 5;14 cases of left bending and 6 of right bending. At the same time,20 healthy adolescent were enrolled as control group, which included 7 males and 13 females, aged 10-18 years old with mean age of 14.45 years old;body mass was 45.00-66.80 kg with mean body mass of 53.94 kg;height was 155.00-173.00 cm with mean height of 162.30 cm;BMI was 16.90-25.40 kg/m2 with mean BMI of 20.48 kg/m2.The peak pressure(PP),mean pressure(MP),total pressure(SMF)and pressure percentage on concave and convex side of AIS patients and healthy in each zone were measured. The foot symmetry indexes(SI)was measured. The correlation between Cobb angle and overall index of plantar pressure were calculated. Results The plantar PP value of Lenke 1 and Lenke 5 AIS patients at concave side in AIS group was significantly greater than that of convex side and control group[(1.93±0.27)N vs(1.69±0.30)N vs(1.68±0.23)N.P<0.05];The pressure of the first, second and third metatarsal bones and the lateral heel area of concave were significantly lower than that of control group[(10.96±2.50)% vs(14.56±4.51)%,(17.18±4.74)% vs(13.01±2.94)%,(15.00±8.26)% vs(3.84±3.90)%.P<0.05];the SIPP,SIMP and SIsMF of AIS group were higher than those of control group(17.88±15.21 vs 9.41±7.55,21.69± 7.97 vs 15.72±8.23,23.60±10.83 vs 14.09±8.36.P<0.05).Conclusion It is demonstrated that plantar pressure of AIS pa-tients with Lenke 1 and Lenke 5 is different from that of healthy, the plantar pressure of concave side is greater than that of convex side during walking. The distribution of local plantar pressure in AIS patient is abnormal, and the occurrence of pressure ulcer should be prevented. The SIPP,SIMP and SISMF of AIS patient are larger than those of healthy adolescent, and bilateral plantar pres-sure symmetry difference of AIS patient is greater than that of healthy adolescent.
