Impact of Digital Literacy on Subjective Welfare of the Elderly——Research Perspective Based on New Human Capital Theory
Based on the data from China Family Panel Studies(CFPS),this paper analyzed the impact of digital literacy on the subjective welfare of the elderly based on the new human capital theory. The research showed that, digital literacy had a significant positive effect on the subjective welfare of the eldly, but the impact on different aspects of subjective welfare, such as happiness, life satisfaction, marital satisfaction, and depression levels, were inconsistent.Digital literacy could enhance the cognitive and non-cognitive abilities of the elderly, thereby positively influencing their subjective welfare. The elderly with high conscientiousness, high extroversion, and low agreeableness were more likely to experience higher subjective welfare, while the emotionally stable elderly were less likely to suffer from depression.
