Uniting Employees and Gaining External Recognition:Impact of Intergenerational Succession on Corporate Social Responsibility Fulfillment in Family Businesses
Based on the data from a national survey of private enterprises,this study examined the impact of intergenerational succession on corporate social responsibility fulfillment.Research findings indicated that,during the succession period,the internal and external legitimacy demands of enterprises drove them to fulfill both internal and external social responsibilities.For small and medium-sized enterprises,intergenerational succession mainly faced internal legitimacy challenges,necessitating the need to"unite employees".For large-scale enterprises,the priority was to address external legitimacy issues,making it necessary to"gain external recognition".The conclusions of this study enrich the understanding of social responsibility in family businesses and provide valuable insights for guiding family businesses in fulfilling their social responsibilities.
