The Guidelines for a Graduate Program in Archival Studies is a programmatic document that has been revised under the auspices of the Society of American Archivists, and is dedicated to improving the quality of graduate archival education in the United States.Based on the historical context of the compilation and revision of the Guidelines, this article compares the similarities and differences among the previous revisions and concludes that the GPAS has always insisted on the cultivation of"multi-disciplinary"archivists,the professional demand orientation of the curriculum, and the dynamic revision mechanism of constant revision. The innovations of the Guidelines include:refining the requirements for the awareness of responsibility of archivists in the cultivation objectives, adjusting the proportion of theoretical and practical knowledge in the curriculum structure, and standardizing the multi-dimensional linkage model for the cultivation of archivists.Drawing on the successful experience of the GPAS,a"Chinese Guidelines for a Graduate Program in Archival Studies"is built and compiled from the perspectives of"multi-disciplinary"archivists,the professional demand orientation and dynamic revision, innovative sense of responsibility, curriculum structure and multi-dimensional linkage.Based on the"Chinese Guidelines for a Graduate Program in Archival Studies",the new development paths for the archival discipline in the new era are explored.
